SwanCon XV Progress Report Three

Let’s wrap up what’s left of this PR. We’ve already done pages 3, 4, 5, 6, 8-9, 12, 13, 14-15, 16, 17, so that leaves front cover, inside cover, page 7, 10-11, 18, 19, and back cover.

The front cover features artwork by Jeremy Reston titled “Sleep” — a male figure in leather jacket cradling perhaps a shotgun, seated atop a pile of rubbish.

The top of the cover declares “Progress Report Three”, then in the same size type “SwanCon XV”, then in smaller type “January 26 to 29, 1990”.

Inside cover has a table of contents, a list of artwork:

1   “Sleep” by Jeremy Reston (with kind permission)
6   “Surviving in a Dark Future” by Jeremy Reston
13   Untitled by Alicia Smith
20 “Scream for Scream” by Kerrie Hanlon

and a section titled “First Against the Wall When the Revolution Comes”, listing core committee (Don Griffiths, Ann Griffiths, Tara Smith, Stephen Dedman, Jeremy G Byrne, Mike Davis, Robin Pen).

Page 7 is “Cartographic Guesswork”, a map of Murray Street and the Swy Theatre and Perth Theatre Trust on the top quarter of the page, plus a map of the corner of Murray Street and Pier Street on the bottom three quarters of the page, showing the first floor of Miss Maud’s European Hotel. The top of the page is eastward (though it does not actually tell you this).

Pages 10 and 11 are the centrefold two page program spread.

Page 19, the inside back cover, is the membership list, showing 102 members, 18 of which are supporting members.

Page 20, the back cover, is the aforementioned Kerrie Hanlon art: in the foreground a nightmarish figure looking up from the forearm it’s snacking on; in the background a picture or high-tech videoscreen depicting that same figure.
