BORDERLANDS
THE WORLD WITHIN

Borderlands is the funkiest new speculative fiction convention to hit Perth in years! Borderlands will approach speculative fiction from a new perspective: “The World Within”. The aim is to approach this topic from as many angles as possible.

Speculative fiction has always echoed and reflected the fears and concerns of contemporary society. Borderlands aims to explore and enjoy the cutting edge, and to look towards the sf of the future.

Borderlands guests include: Chris Lawson, an award winning writer, making his mark with short stories such as “Unborn Again” and “Written in Blood”; Jeremy Byrne, Familiar to many as a founding member of Eidolon and the editor and publisher of a string of critically acclaimed SF works; Tess Williams, the author of the novels Map of Power and Sea as Mirror, which was shortlisted for the James Tiptree Jr. Award, and co-editor of the acclaimed anthology, Women of Other Worlds.

Borderlands is an approved project of the Not-For-Profit Western Australian Science Fiction Foundation and is being run by Anna Hepworth, Simon Oxwell and Grant Watson who were part of the team behind the very successful Swancon Twenty3 and Swancon 2000.

About australian sf-history

ASFDAP was set up in 2011 after the rediscovery by the wider SF community of an impressive hoard of Australian SF community related ephemera, fanzines and other materials in the Murdoch University basement.
